If you're in the market for a home security package and you're also interested in a 24 hour carbon monoxide monitoring service then Monitronics.com might be worth checking out. They provide affordable security packages with optional extras, including around the clock CO monitoring.

All packages on Monitronics come with free extended service, installation, equipment and monitoring. However, you will likely be charged a $99 one time activation fee, so you'll need to bear that in mind when calculating your budget. It's worth noting that this company does not provide exclusive CO monitoring, rather it comes as an added extra to one of its main security packages. If you are only interested in carbon monoxide monitoring then you will need to go elsewhere. However, if you do think that a home security bundle would be useful, then their packages are quite affordable.

The big benefit to the service on offer here is that a central command centre monitors your alarms for you. This means that, aside from the alarm sounding and flashing, you will be called to check that everyone in the house is okay. This should allow you a quick exit from the property, which can be vital.

The actual cost of adding a carbon monoxide detector to your safety package is not clear, the site makes no direct reference to how much this costs. Instead you will need to make an inquiry with the sales team, which can be achieved through the site. As for on-site information, there's relatively little information on the devices used, rather it presses on the importance of carbon monoxide detection in helping to save lives. This is all well and good but it can feel a little inadequate. We'd prefer to have some hard facts about the detection rates of the technology, and some real time results on how quick the service response is. That said, the site does have a security blog and an FAQ, although this is mainly concerned with home security with regard to protection from break ins. 

Since you cannot purchase a carbon monoxide alarm and monitoring service on its own through Monitronics.com, it is only really offering good value to anyone who is willing to purchase a home security package. This limits its usefulness if you already have security in the home, in which case we might recommend purchasing a stand alone alarm or to investigate whether your current home security providers will be able to synchronise it with your current monitoring services (if you have them). Additionally, without explicit details as to the effectiveness of the carbon monoxide detectors used by Monitronics, we find it hard to suggest using them unless you're already a customer of theirs, or willing to ask about such details.
